What India Polls keeps, and why

Plain language, no surprises. Last updated 25 September 2026.

What we collect

  • Username, email address and Indian mobile number when you join. The mobile number is what keeps it to one account, and one vote, per citizen. Only the email is confirmed with a code today.
  • Your votes: which choice you picked on which poll, and when. You can see your own history at any time; nobody else can see how you voted.
  • How you signed in: with a password, or with Google. With Google we receive only your name and verified email address, nothing else from your Google account.
  • Where you joined from: new accounts can only be created from within India, so at signup we look up the country of your connection. The country isn't stored, and it's never checked again afterwards.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell, rent or share your details with anyone.
  • We don't run advertising or tracking. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in and protect forms from forgery.
  • We don't publish individual votes, only totals per poll.
  • We email you your sign-up code, and a short note when a new poll opens. Every poll email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and nothing else is ever sent.

Who processes data on our behalf

  • Amazon Web Services (Mumbai region) hosts the site and database and sends the code emails.
  • Google handles sign-in when you choose "Continue with Google".
  • MaxMind supplies the country database used at signup; the lookup runs on our own server, nothing is sent to MaxMind.
  • OpenAI helps us research which questions to ask, from public news. It never receives anything about citizens or votes.

Keeping and deleting

Your account and votes are kept while your account exists. To correct your details or delete your account, write to info@indiapolls.app from the address on the account, and it will be done within a week. Deleting an account removes your votes from the tallies.
